The Mama Africa season of films, for which we have collaborated with the Filmhouse Cinema, ended last week and has been very successful. We have received many positive comments from audience members and generally the response is - please bring more African films to Edinburgh!

For those of you who are interested, here are the box office numbers for the screenings:

MAMA AFRICA SEMINAR - 72

THE MAN WHO STOLE MY MOTHER'S FACE - 50
MADAME BROUETTE - 82
MAANGAMIZI: THE ANCIENT ONE - 90

Keeping in mind that most screenings took place in the small cinema, that takes just about 60 people (and that the Mama Africa Shorts and Africa Documented only had one screening, and the other films two screenings each), these figures indicate that the season has been very well attended. The week of screenings of Sembene's Moolaade in September attracted 332 people in total! We are currently analysing the questionnaires distributed at the Mama Africa screenings and we will post the results of this market research soon.
